IAIS: Irish Association for Information SystemsMost conferences end up consuming research papers in once-off presentations. The proposed workshop would reverse this process by focusing on research paper creation
A small group of Irish researchers are being invited to attend in one location to work on pre-arranged joint research projects in small groups (2 - 3 researchers from different Universities/Institutes of Technology per project). These groups will begin the process now by identifying co-authors they would like to work with in other Irish academic institutions (or perhaps abroad in a small number of cases). They will begin working on their research using email and phone and the process would culminate in a face-to-face meeting at this workshop where the research papers would be finalized.
A number of internationally-renowned researchers have committed to attend the workshop. They will present their experiences in a small number of plenary sessions, and will also 'float around' the various research groups offering advice and answering questions on research method issues, for example.
Attendees will get the opportunity to work on developing joint research projects and senior researchers will 'float' around the various research projects offering advice and insight. In advance of the workshop, the various joint project participants will work on discussing their research ideas and planning for when they would meet.
